Delancey Real Estate Brings Mobile Mental Health Support to London Schools

Earlier this week, Delancey Real Estate partnered with The Zen Project to bring practical mental health support directly into London schools. During Children’s Mental Health Week 2026 (9–13 February), the Zen Bus, a converted American school bus, visited schools in Delancey communities, including Maryland Primary School and Chobham Academy in Stratford, and Chelsea Academy, and Fulham Cross Academy.

The Zen Bus

The Zen Bus provided a calm, welcoming space where children and teachers participated in guided sessions in mindfulness, breathing, and emotional regulation. These activities help pupils manage stress, improve focus, and carry calm into everyday school life.

School staff and pupils shared their reactions to the sessions:

  • Maryland Primary School: “It was magical,” said the Deputy Head. One teacher added, “It brought awe and wonder to our children and parents this morning. We want them back — such a wonderful way to start the week.”

  • Chobham Academy: “The children thoroughly enjoyed the Zen workshop and responded very positively to the calming and meditative activities. Teachers noted a noticeable sense of calm and positivity afterwards. Overall, staff felt the Zen Project was valuable, inspiring, and extremely beneficial for the children’s emotional wellbeing,” said Assistant Principal Nicholas Marzouqa.

  • Fulham Cross Academy: Teachers described the experience as “very calming and relaxing” and “nourishing,” while students shared, “I really liked the experience of coming into the bus — centred from the space around us,” and “Really nice experience, it grounded the variety of sounds.” Staff added, “The project is such an amazing concept… we really felt great after the sessions. Thank you for bringing the Zen!”

Delancey also partnered with The Zen Project last year for Mental Health Awareness Week 2025, when the Zen Bus toured communities including Earls Court, Elephant & Castle Town Centre, Here East and more, bringing wellbeing sessions to shopping centres, neighbourhoods and local hubs.

The visits come at a time when concerns about children’s mental health are growing across the UK. According to Place2Be, 95% of school staff report rising pupil anxiety, while NHS England data shows one in five children had a probable mental disorder in 2023. Initiatives like the Zen Bus aim to provide practical support at this critical stage.

This programme builds on Delancey’s ongoing commitment to social value, complementing its broader efforts in education, youth development, arts, and community wellbeing across London.
